Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Classical Astronomy Archive (the “Catalogue”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Catalogue. We may revise these terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Lawful Personal Use

The Catalogue is provided for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You may browse, search, read, download, and share the ebooks and accompanying editorial material for your own study, teaching, or enjoyment. Any commercial use, redistribution for profit, or systematic downloading of large portions of the Catalogue requires prior written permission from the editor.

Prohibited Misuse

You must not:

  • Use the Catalogue for any unlawful activity or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law.
  • Attempt to interfere with the operation of the Catalogue, including by introducing viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
  • Engage in automated extraction, scraping, or data mining without express written consent.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Upload or transmit any content that is defamatory, obscene, or infringes the rights of others.

Automated Extraction and Interference

We reserve the right to block or limit access to any user or device that engages in excessive automated requests, scraping, or any activity that places an unreasonable burden on our servers. Such measures may be taken without prior notice.

Bibliographic and Transcription Limitations

The ebooks in the Catalogue are based on public-domain texts and are provided as historical and literary resources. While we strive for accuracy, the transcriptions may contain errors or omissions introduced during digitization. Bibliographic descriptions are offered in good faith but should not be relied upon as authoritative for academic citation without independent verification. We make no representation that any ebook is in the public domain in every jurisdiction; copyright laws vary by country, and users are responsible for determining the legal status of a work in their own location.

Jurisdiction-Dependent Copyright and Public-Domain Status

Many works in the Catalogue are believed to be in the public domain in their country of origin and in countries where the copyright term is life of the author plus 70 years or less. However, some works may still be protected by copyright in other jurisdictions. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that their use of any ebook complies with the copyright laws of the country where they access or use it. We do not guarantee that every ebook is free of copyright restrictions worldwide.

User Responsibility

You are responsible for your own use of the Catalogue and for any content you download, share, or transmit. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Catalogue and its editor from any claims arising from your misuse or violation of these terms.

Third-Party Links

The Catalogue may contain links to third-party websites or resources. These are provided for convenience only; we do not endorse or assume any responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or availability of such external sites. Accessing them is at your own risk.

Technical Availability

We aim to keep the Catalogue accessible, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Catalogue may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Catalogue at any time without notice.

Editorial Notes and Presentation

The editorial material accompanying each ebook—such as introductions, reading guides, and background notes—represents the opinions and research of the editor, The Editorial Team Uveki. These are offered to enrich the reader's experience and are not intended as definitive scholarly analysis. The presentation of ebooks, including formatting and metadata, may vary and is subject to change.

Rights-Holder Notices

If you believe that any content on the Catalogue infringes your copyright or other rights, please contact the editor at editor@uveki.com with sufficient information to evaluate your claim. We will respond promptly and take appropriate action, which may include removing the allegedly infringing material.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE CATALOGUE AND ALL CONTENT THEREIN ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE CATALOGUE OR ITS EDITOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE CATALOGUE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THIS LIMITATION APPLIES TO ALL CLAIMS, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.

Suspension of Abusive Access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Catalogue for any user who violates these terms, engages in abusive behavior, or whose actions could harm the Catalogue or other users. Suspension may be temporary or permanent at our sole discretion.

Service Changes

We may change, add, or remove features of the Catalogue at any time. We will endeavor to provide notice of significant changes through the website, but we are not obligated to do so. These Terms of Use may be updated accordingly; your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

If you have questions about these terms, please contact The Editorial Team Uveki at editor@uveki.com.
